OMG!! I adore (like down to my soul) the Heralds of Valdemar series! I literally grew up (and old) on those books! Before I even read this I was incoherent with wriggly anticipation and happiness over it! And you absolutely delivered :D The slow, sweet, intimate feel of this is just perfect. Natural and magical all at once, I love how Arthur made Merlin's dream (and I'm sure his own) come true with such loving tenderness. Can't tell you how much I'm smiling and kvelling over this!
