Preferred Era: I like canon and modern (meaning any other era, really). I’m not so hot on reincarnation. I don’t mind the whole coincidental namesake thing, though.
Kinks/Tropes you'd like to see in your gift: AUs! I love pining where the other doesn't know, or they think the other is off-limits. Aside from squicks, I'm happy to see anything that's depicted lovingly. Enthusiasm! Trope-wise, I love the ones that fit well with their existing roles in canon. Like Arthur in a position of power, Merlin having to hide something big about himself, Gwaine having a secret upper class past, Lancelot's hardscrabble youth, etc. Flatmates is always a winner. Work mates evocative of Roy and Moss’s relationship from IT crowd would be fun. I love sixth form/university AU like burning. I'm also taken with unexpected AUs that are really thought out and well executed. As long as you sell it and it has lovely UST I'll be happy. Initial antagonism that leads to heady lust and love when they're thrust together in close quarters. They accidentally give the impression that they're a couple and don't realize it. The ensemble superimposed on some kind of event, like where people need to work as a team towards some kind of goal. Sports AU (particularly soccer, rugby, tennis...practically any team sport that isn't US football, really). Misunderstandings. I LOVE GAIUS. I ALSO LOVE LEON. I love Gwen and background Gwen/Lance or Gwen/Leon romance. I love Morgana who turns out redeemed/good/etc. I love background characters. Let guys be guys. I don't care who tops. VIRGINS. Arthur makes an excellent one. Even into adulthood. Even if only virgin to guys. It's all good. A bit of anxiety and "I cannot believe this is happening" is good, too. Fumbling and clumsiness so long as they don't kill the mood. I am also a sucker for tropes such as royalty AU, accidental bonding, suddenly and accidentally seeing the other in a sexy new light, finding the secret gay porn stash, overhearing/accidentally seeing other wanking, secretly being aware of the other's kinks, rimming, matter-of-fact yet embarrassed Merlin. Prompts: These are just some suggestions that would be neat-o.
• Cricket AU – Arthur’s a gentleman and Merlin’s a player. Class friction combines with mutual admiration and lots of sexual tension. Edwardian era or modern could both be amazing! Could double as university AU if you like!
• Sir Gwaine and the Green Knight – Turn the whole thing on its head and have Gwaine’s kisses returned to Bertilak be what he’s truly into and hotness ensues. Bertilak is LANCELOT still being used by Morgana, say. Or PERCY because hot damn.
• Modern sports AU – Merlin gets injured on the field and Gwaine -the notorious womanizer- just fucking loses it and lets his true feelings slip. High jinks ensue.
Things you do not want in your gift: If it’s not listed here then it’s fair game as far as I’m concerned (I really mean that).
