Summary: Merlin isn't Arthur's soulmate, and Arthur isn't Merlin's, yet somehow in spite of themselves they're everything to one another. Which is why, when Arthur finally starts seeing in colour, he isn't willing to let Merlin go without a fight.

Author's Notes: Dear dreammaidenn, I was so pleased when I got your name for my assignment – I’ve enjoyed reading your fic and I think we like a lot of the same tropes so I had a great time writing for this prompt. That said, as usual the story kind of got away from me a bit, so I hope it still fulfils the spirit if not the letter of your request. Happy holidays!
