1. Merlin is a small-town priest who likes to solve criminal cases in his spare time. Arthur is a small-town police officer who is fed up with always being upstaged by a cleric. A series of murders forces them to work together - and possibly fall in love in the process. (Shamelessly based on our local "Don Matteo" rip-off. I'm fine with some religious/homophobic angst. Whether or not they actually sleep together is up to you.)
2. Merlin and Arthur are students who play RPGs - unaware that the entire rest of their group is trying to get them together (maybe by forcing their characters into romantic interactions). You can also substitute RPGs for something else, e.g. amateur drama club.
